We had the pleasure of hosting Embracing BIM: Solutions for Small and Medium Businesses and Practitioners. This one-of-a-kind event brought together students, educators, professionals, and developers in one space to explore the potential and future of Building Information Modelling (BIM). We heard from an impressive line up of speakers, who shared their unique perspectives on all things BIM:
Carlos Cordeiro (Nemetschek Group) showcased OpenBIM’s adaptable platform strategy, Cornelia Tugli (airc.digital) championed early BIM education and collaboration with RIBA and ARB. Olivier Boennec (Civic Engineers) then addressed technical challenges and the underuse of BIM in engineering before Lanre Gboladé (Gboladé Design Studio) shared insights into BIM adoption in small practices. Jaime Ingram (airc.digital) debunked the myth that BIM only suits large projects, highlighting benefits for smaller businesses and Cristina Chitimus (Beyond Construction Ltd) explored BIM’s value to developers and emphasized the need for proactive training. Finally, Lee Morris (Solibri UK Ltd) wrapped up with an interactive workshop focused on improving cross-project collaboration, complemented by hands-on VR engagement using an Apple Vision Pro headset.
A heartfelt thank you to our speakers, to our partners at airc.digital /Let’s BIM it! and to our sponsors Nemetschek Group, whose dedication to OpenBIM and industry collaboration made this event possible.
