Next year Build Studios will be working with Open City on it’s next Architecture in Schools programme, and sponsoring a Lambeth school to take part.
Architecture in Schools is a creative and cross-curricular programme for primary school pupils in years 4, 5 and 6. The programme aims to train teachers on how architecture can be used to teach a variety of core subjects including Art, Design, Numeracy, Literacy, Geography and Science whilst improving drawing, model-making, communication and problem-solving skills.
The aim is to improve the next generation of city-shapers and for participants to understand how architects inform the world around us.
Schools respond to an architectural design brief in partnership with the professional architect mentor with the ambition of submitting a portfolio and architect’s model showcasing the ideas. The top 3 submissions are transformed into professional architectural models that will be publicly displayed throughout August and September 2019.
